Catholic Organisation for Social and Religious Advancement

The Catholic Organisation for Social and Religious Advancement (COSRA) is a youth movement in the Holy Catholic church inGhana and traces its roots of establishment to Ghana, hence practically appreciates the peculiar needs of the Ghanaian for that matter the African youth and poses the right tools to address the social, economic, political and religious needs of young people.

COSRA has the right vehicle that educates, informs and transforms the passive catholic youth into an Active Catholic who is always ready to serve and shine wherever they find themselves.

The group appeals to all manner of people irrespective of race or tribe, educational status, language to become a member and provides an equal platform for fruitful deliberation without discrimination.

COSRA was founded at the Holy Spirit Cathedral by Monhsinor Jonathan Thomas Aryikai Ankrah in 1969 and was formally inaugurated in 1970.

Membership of COSRA is open to all Catholics who are 18 years and above (no upper limit). The group combines YOUTHFUL dynamism and adult maturity which is reflected in its line of programming to meet the needs of all members.

Many young Catholics now have a sense of not only belonging, but more importantly, a sense of mission with their association with COSRA.

The aims and objectives of COSRA are in five fold:
 To bring the youth of the church together.
 To promote social and religious activities among members and in the church.
 To encourage the spirit of voluntary service to the church both among members and the youth of the church.
 To inculcate in members the habit of obedience, discipline, self respect and humility towards the attainment of true manhood.
 To stimulate and direct in every way possible members’ ambition along the Christian way of life.
