There is no argument about the multiple benefits trees on Human life, most importantly storing atmospheric carbon dioxide and thereby reducing the amount in the atmosphere and fighting global warming. An analysis in 2019, for instance, estimated that under a third of all emissions from human activities could be removed by planting a trillion trees. This is the reason why the Catholic Organisation for Social and Religious Advancement (COSRA) in the Sunyani diocese, a group within the Catholic Church, decided to use its annual gathering to respond to the call by the Government of Ghana’s Green Ghana project to contribute to making the world a better place for posterity.

At the just ended 2022 Sunyani Diocesan Congress, the group had the privilege of hosting the National President; Dr Stephen Nabareseh, the National Financial Secretary; Mr Stephen Baffour Gyau, The National PRO; Mr Richard Kusi Ampofo, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah (the Diocesan Spiritual Director), Rev. Fr. Matthew Yeboah (guest speaker), among others. As scheduled, the Diocesan President in the name of Mr Vincent Missah. Akwei, led the dignitaries to Delani Academy School, where the first tree was planted by the National President. He commended the diocese for the initiative and prayed that other dioceses emulate the gesture. In all, over a 100 trees including Mahogany, Cocoa and Framoo were planted along the streets of Dormaa Ahenkro by members.

  1. COSRA greening Ghana.
I can’t wait to see all Archdiocese and Dioceses take advantage of the Green Ghana project to create a small forest some where in a Parish.🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
