The elected parish leaders in the Sunyani diocese over the weekend were groomed and made ready for the task of leadership at their parishes. The president, Mr Vincent Akwei who had promised this program, based his assertion that much is expected from the elected leaders and he will equip them adequately.
Three topics were used to refine participants during the one day program.
1. Approach to effective leadership by Dr. Mrs. Vida Korang, Snr Lecturer, Catholic university.
2. The call to leadership in shaping the church and society by Rev. Fr. Gordon Adomah, Christ the King Cathedral
3. The benefit of being a great leader by Mr Augustine Gyan, Manager, Absa bank, Berekum branch.
The experienced resource persons went through the topics with a lot of activities. These practical activities brought out the lapses in leadership and they took advantage to brainstorm to realize the best approach to leadership. Key to these lessons was a video clip which indicated various challenges you will have with members who are expected to supporting you. It helped participants to learn how to deal with individual characters. The program ended with participants appreciating diocesan leadership for such an eye opener. The diocesan president took advantage to inform them that they have been well equipped therefore much is expected from them without excuses.
