This was his advice during a COURTESY VISIT TO MOST REV. JOHN BONAVENTURE KWOFIE, METROPOLITAN ARCHBISHOP OF ACCRA ON 20TH AUGUST, 2019 by the Accra Archdiocesan Leadership of Catholic Organization for Social and Religious Advancement (COSRA), led by Mr. Daniel Tawiah, Accra Archdiocesan President of COSRA.

The key objectives of the meeting were to:

congratulate the Metropolitan Archbishop on his appointment and successful possession of the Accra Archdiocese plea for COSRA Arch Spiritual Director appeal for an office for COSRA National Secretariat
get update on Youth Age policy communiqué by the Ghana Catholic Bishop Conference (GCBC) request of review of Second collection during weddings and funerals brief him on our just ended National Spiritual Congress Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra welcomed the Accra Archdiocesan President of COSRA and his team which include the immediate past Accra Archdiocesan President of COSRA, Mr. Patrick Mensah, and the Youth Chaplain of the Accra Archdiocesan Youth Council, Rev. Fr. Osmund Kudoloh. Thereafter, Theophilus Evans Asare, Accra Archdiocesan Vice President of COSRA thanked the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra for accepting to meet with the Accra Archdiocesan Council of COSRA delegation. Going further, Mr. Theophilus Evans Asare formally
congratulated Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra on his appointment and possession of the Archdiocese and prayed for God to grant him wisdom to direct the affairs of the Accra Archdiocese. He said that the motive behind our courtesy visit was primarily to make him aware of COSRA as an adult youth group in the Archdiocese. This was followed by introduction of all present by him.

Mr. Theophilus Evans Asare then gave a brief background of COSRA and said it was founded at the Holy Spirit Cathedral by Monsignor Jonathan Thomas Aryikai Ankrah in 1969 and was formally inaugurated in 1979. Currently we have 53 branches with 40 being active in the Archdiocese and 207 branches nationwide in 18 Diocese/Archdioceses. Membership of COSRA is open to all Catholics who are 18 years and above. The group combines youthful dynamism and adult maturity which is reflected in its line of programming to meet the needs of all as well as members. He then formally introduced all deanery leaders present. The courtesy visit was represented by Tema Battor, Kaneshie, Osu, Mamprobi, Madina deanery leaders lead by the Accra Archdiocesan leaders. The only missing deanery was Kpehe who due to some circumstances beyond their control could not make it.

Mr. Theophilus Evans Asare enumerated some of our concerns so that His Grace looks in to it for us.

Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra thanked the Accra Archdiocesan Vice President of COSRA for his kind remarks and insights of the visit. He expressed delight over the visit by COSRA Accra Archdiocesan team which he described as timely in the light of him as the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra because no youth group of the Archdiocese had visited him till our coming. He appreciated COSRA for what it has and continues doing for the church, and noted particularly that our age group bracket is crucial in the church which shall not be overlooked by him. He continued to task the group to work in getting COSRA to all parishes of the Archdiocese. He encouraged all active branches to adopt the dormant ones in their catchment areas to facilitate their revival.

He shared with us a suggestion to have a program that will bring all members of society in the archdiocese together, to celebrate Christ at a particular venue.

In his conclusion, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, while endorsing our society, urged us to prepare adequately for the future for we are the emerging leaders of the church and country. This he mentioned is inspired in his Episcopal motto; “Let us rise and Build the Church”.

On the request of office for COSRA National Secretariat in the Accra
Archdiocese, in affirmation he asked Rev. Fr. Osmund Kudoloh to contact Rev. Father Clement Wilson of Sacred Heart Parish, Deby Avenue, Accra to facilitate an office there for COSRA. On the position on the Youth Age policy communiqué by the GCBC, he said we should not be much worry about it
because it does not necessary affect COSRA and that our age group bracket is crucial for the church. On the Second collection for wedding and funerals, he noted it and said during all his pastoral visits, it has been the concerns of
the parishes so he will work on it and come out with a communiqué at the
appropriate time.

Mr. Daniel Tawiah, Accra Archdiocesan President of COSRA, on behalf of the delegates and the entire COSRA, thanks the Metropolitan Archbishop for his warm reception and thanked all present for making it to the courtesy call.
